The Powerhouse Science Center is honored to be part of the Portal to the Public National Network. Portal to the Public brings scientists and public audiences together in face-to-face interactions that promote appreciation and understanding of current scientific research and its application.

Science Communication Fellows are scientists, engineers, graduate students, researchers, and other science professionals. Fellows complete three intensive workshops where they learn the importance of informal science education and how people learn. They develop facilitation skills and activities to use in the design of their own tabletop exhibit.

The scientists’ goal is to become science ambassadors and excellent communicators who engage public audiences with fun, interactive, content-rich learning activities. Once trained, our Fellows interact with museum visitors at our Meet A Scientist weekend. Additional opportunities are available for Fellows on weekends throughout the year, special events, Science Family Nights, camps and more!
